About PrizeMap

A quick practice tool for Pokemon TCG players, built by a fellow player, for the community.

Hi, I'm Jerry

I'm a software developer by day and a Pokemon fan for basically my entire life. It started with a borrowed copy of Ruby at a friend's house, then my own copy of Fire Red, and somewhere along the way it never really stopped. I've collected the cards on and off for years, competed casually in VGC in the X/Y era, but lately I've been getting more serious about actually competing on the TCG side.

My first regional was in Houston in March 2025. I ran Mega Lopunny ex / Dusknoir, went 4-4, and could have likely made Day 2 if I hadn't bricked in my last four games (2 rounds) straight.

Where PrizeMap came from

The idea of "TCG puzzles" had floated around the Pokemon community for a long time. Players would post screenshots on Reddit or personal blogs, but there was never a real platform for it. Nothing that let you actually did both of 1) playing through a puzzle in a simulated environment, and 2) let you create and share your own board states with friends.

In December 2025, I decided to just build it. Two weeks later I had a proof of concept, shared it internally with some friends, and then the community caught hold of it. The name, "PrizeMap", comes from a common term (Prize Mapping) used by players when planning out possible outcomes of a game.

That response meant a lot. It told me the community wanted this, and it pushed me to keep building.
